Osteoporosis ? 

Osteoporosis means “porous bones”. It is when bones become thin and weak, making it easier

for them to break. About 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will be affected by

osteoporosis.

Osteopenia ? 

Osteopenia is the early stages of Osteoporosis and unless preventative measures are put

in place, it can develop into Osteoporosis. Research shows that most fractures (broken

bones) happen in the moderate to marked osteopenia range.

Note: Please have the following blood tests done in advance to your appointment: 

In order to help prioritise and make the best possible use of your appointment, it would be really helpful if following bloods can be done in advance: FBC, Renal/Liver/Bone profile, serum PTH, Vitamin D, anti tTG and TFT’s.
If not, we can also help you have this at our clinic for a cost of €70 for new patients and follow up at €50.

What can I expect during my first consultation?

During your first visit, Our experienced nurse will review your medical history, discuss any concerns you have, and perform a thorough assessment to develop a personalized care plan.

Do I need a referral to visit Bone Health Clinic?

No, you can directly contact our clinic to arrange an appointment. 

How much does it cost to visit the clinic?

For new patients the cost of a clinical consultation is currenttly €80 at 20% off. 

The charge for follow up appointments is €60. 

Payments can be made using debit card, credit card or cash.

If you have – or are at risk of – osteoporosis, you should do more exercise, rather than less. It is important to move and keep active so that you can continue to do all of the things that you enjoy. Balanced Diet
A balanced diet with adequate calcium and vitamin D is needed to maintain normal bones. This can be achieved by following the food pyramid (see below). It outlines the amounts of foods that we should have daily to maintain a healthy body and healthy bones.
